1. Overview

This Privacy Policy explains how SaltStrike (“SaltStrike,” “we,” “us”) handles information when you use the SaltStrike iPhone app (the “App”) and the website at saltstrikeapp.com (the “Website”). SaltStrike is a saltwater fishing app that shows conditions, tides, species, local regulations and nearby fishing spots.

There are no accounts in SaltStrike. You do not give us your name, email address, phone number or payment details to use the App. By using the App or Website you agree to this policy.

2. Information we collect

Location. With your permission, the App uses your device’s location while you use it to show local weather, tides, wind, lightning and radar, recommend species and bait, show nearby reefs and boat ramps, and match fishing regulations to your state and county. Your coordinates are sent to our servers with these requests so we can return local results. You can turn location off at any time in iOS Settings; the App still works if you choose a place manually.

Alerts and push notifications. If you turn on alerts (such as lightning, storms or best fishing window), we store a random installation ID, your Apple push notification token, the alert types you chose, your alert distance settings and your approximate location so we can send alerts that match where you are. Delivery records are kept for about 30 days. You can turn alerts off in the App or in iOS Settings.

Advertising. The App shows ads through Google AdMob. Google and its partners may collect device and usage information such as your IP address, device identifiers and how you interact with ads, in order to serve and measure ads and prevent fraud. Where required by law (for example the European Economic Area and United Kingdom), the App shows a consent form from Google’s User Messaging Platform, and you can change your choice later in Settings under Ad Privacy Choices. The App does not request permission to track you across other companies’ apps and websites.

Purchases. The optional “Remove Ads” purchase is processed by Apple. We never see or store your payment card or Apple account details. The App checks with Apple whether you own the purchase and keeps that status on your device.

Information stored on your device. Your favorite species, saved spots, settings and a short diagnostic trail used to help fix problems are stored on your device. The diagnostic trail is only shared if you choose to share it with us.

Server logs. Like most online services, our servers automatically record the IP address, date and time, requested address and device or browser type of each request. These logs are kept for about 14 days and used for security, abuse prevention and troubleshooting.

Website. The Website does not use cookies, analytics or advertising scripts. Pages load only from our own servers.

3. How we use information

We use information to provide the App and Website features described above, send the alerts you request, keep the service secure and reliable, show ads that keep the App free, and comply with the law. We do not use your information to build advertising profiles of our own.

4. How we share information

We do not sell your personal information. We share information only with:

• Apple, for push notifications, purchases and App Store services.
• Google, through AdMob, for advertising as described above.
• Service providers that host our servers and run the weather, tide and regulation data services we use to answer your requests, only as needed to operate SaltStrike.
• Authorities or others when required by law, or to protect rights, safety and security.

5. Your choices and rights

• Location and notifications: change or revoke these at any time in iOS Settings, or turn alerts off inside the App.
• Ads: use Ad Privacy Choices in the App’s Settings where it is shown, and review Google’s ad settings and iOS privacy settings. Purchasing Remove Ads turns ads off.
• Access, correction and deletion: because SaltStrike has no accounts, we usually hold only an installation ID, push token, alert settings and location tied to your device. Email us and, with your installation details where needed, we will delete it. Turning alerts off in the App also stops further alerts.
• Regional rights: depending on where you live, such as California, other U.S. states, the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, you may have rights to know, access, correct, delete or port your data, to object to or restrict processing, and to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information or targeted advertising. We do not sell personal information. To use these rights, email us. You may also complain to your local data protection authority.

6. Data retention

Alert records (installation ID, token, settings and location) are kept while alerts are active and removed when you ask us to or when the device is no longer reachable. Delivery records are deleted after about 30 days and server logs after about 14 days. Information in Apple’s and Google’s systems is governed by their own policies.

7. Children’s privacy

SaltStrike is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has given us information, email us and we will delete it.

8. Security and international transfers

We use encrypted connections (HTTPS) and limit access to our servers. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure. Our servers are in the United States; if you use SaltStrike from another country, your information will be transferred to and processed in the United States.

9. Fishing regulations and safety

Regulations, forecasts, conditions and map positions in SaltStrike are provided for information only. They can be incomplete or out of date. Always confirm current rules with your state wildlife agency and use official charts for navigation.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top shows when it was last changed. If we make material changes, we will update that date and, where appropriate, notify you in the App.
